Biography
Dr Jessica Bugg is Dean of the School of Media and Communication, London College of Fashion, University of Arts London and was awarded a PhD from the same institution in 2006. Prior to this she was Associate Dean Research and Innovation, School of Fashion and Textiles, College of Design and Social Context at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She has 25 years of educational leadership and research experience within Fashion Design, Design for Performance, Fashion Media and Communication and is an experienced PhD supervisor and examiner.
As an interdisciplinary designer and practitioner working with fashion, performance, contemporary dance, art and film, her practice led research is concerned with developing embodied methods for clothing design and communication in the site of the body. Drawing on physical experience, memory, cognition, haptic and sensory perception she collaborates with wearers, artists and audiences to heighten and understand communication through design.
